Job Summary
We are seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals with IDD in daily living activities, promoting their independence, and empowering them to make choices that reflect their values and goals.

Responsibilities
As a Direct Support Professional, your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Facilitating consumers in daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dining skills, housekeeping skills, social skills, and community access.
  • Providing direct support to and assisting consumers in training activities as specified in ISPs and activity schedules.
  • Aiding in mobility as needed for those using wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
  • Assisting in bedroom maintenance and teaching housekeeping skills and care of clothing.
  • Assisting with meal service, teaching dining skills, and promoting social skills and personal dignity during meals.
  • Administering medications and treatments according to company policy.
  • Being assigned as a Primary Person (P2) for one or more consumers and ensuring their wellbeing at all times.
  • Attending and successfully completing in-service training sessions as scheduled.
  • Serving as a role model and mentor to fellow Direct Support Professionals.
  • Completing data collection, observation notes, and daily reports as directed by agency policy and procedure.
  • Assisting consumers in transportation as needed.
  • Participating as a member of the Individual Support Team and giving input toward the consumer's ISP.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications:
  • A high school education or its equivalent.
  • Some previous experience in supporting/assisting those with disabilities is preferred.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Satisfactory completion of criminal background checks as required by federal and/or state laws and any other post-offer, pre-employment screenings as mandated by a governing agency or the company.

Estimated Salary: $35,000 - $45,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications.
