Job Summary

The Auto Body Technician is responsible for providing an exceptional and successful customer experience through meticulous assessment and quality repair of each customer's vehicle. The primary responsibility involves disassembling, repairing, and reassembling vehicles to restore them to pre-accident condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Quality Results Execute the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan consistently and achieve high-quality repairs.
  • Estimate and Plan Repairs Prepare cost estimates for customers and plan repair work, utilizing various tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers.
  • Restore Vehicle Condition Hammer out dents, dimples, and minor body damage if possible; mix and apply filler resins when other methods are not feasible.
  • Realign Chassis and Frames Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
  • Replace or Repair Damaged Sections Remove damaged sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts, as needed.
  • Inspect and Complete Work Ensure all work has been executed correctly by inspecting vehicles after repair and attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines.

Educational Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer is also preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong Communication Skills Ability to read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
  • Teamwork Ability to work effectively with other repairers within an auto body shop.
  • Technical Expertise Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies and how to use tools required for the trade.

Estimated Salary Range: $50,000 - $200,000 per year * (*Based on Experience)

Work Environment

Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present, lift up to 30 pounds at times, visually inspect vehicle damage in varying weather conditions, and bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
