Job Title: Licensed Psychologist

AHRC New York City is a leading provider of services for children and adults with developmental disabilities. We are seeking a Licensed Psychologist to join our team.

Job Summary

The Licensed Psychologist will diagnose and evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals, and administer programs of treatment. The successful candidate will assist the Chief Psychologist with administrative and supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview clients in various settings and study medical and social case histories.
  • Observe clients in play or other situations, and select, administer, and interpret psychological tests to diagnose and formulate plans of treatment.
  • Treat psychological disorders to effect improved adjustments.
  • Select approach to use in individual, group, and family therapy, and plan frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy.
  • Collaborate with Medical Director and other specialists in developing treatment programs for clients.
  • Instruct and direct students serving psychological internships.
  • Develop experimental designs and conduct research in fields of personality development and adjustment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders.
  • Serve as consultant to staff, other departments, and other agencies on individual cases to evaluate, plan, and develop mental health programs.
  • Perform all duties necessary for compliance with relevant regulations governing service provision, including record keeping.
  • Deal with people supported in a legal and ethical manner.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or equivalent in a clinical or counseling field of psychology.
  • One-year internship required.
  • Must be fluent in Spanish.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the medical community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
