Software Development Engineer II

As a member of our team, you'll work on large-scale, highly distributed systems, building one of the world's most scalable, reliable, and secure e-commerce platforms, processing tens of millions of financial transactions in multiple currencies and countries. Are you interested in working on machine learning problems that will make a lasting impact? You'll be part of a team of high-performing engineers to build, scale, monitor, and optimize services that are the foundation for Amazon's financial reporting. We handle data in high volume and velocity, and you'll interface with teams and systems inside and outside of our org, including Business Systems, Financial Systems, and Accounting. Our mission is to provide a world-class customer experience through a data-driven approach and scalable, robust software.
A successful candidate will be a self-starter and fast learner, with an established background in developing high-volume and highly available services, strong technical ability, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coding in Java
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
