As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining large data pipelines that support various baseball operations. Your ultimate goal is to build a winning team on the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in building and maintaining our internal data model of play-by-play and player-tracking data, as well as the necessary pipelines to populate it.
  • Transform data into meaningful formats to ensure reliability, cleanliness, and accessibility for developers and analysts.
  • Develop auditing SQL queries and quality-check systems to guarantee data attributes.
  • Construct and maintain data pipelines that bring external baseball information vendors' data into our system.
  • Innovate solutions to optimize processes, improving performance and scalability.

Your areas of expertise and knowledge include:

  • Designing and building professional databases and data warehouses.
  • Database architecture, design patterns, and best practices for optimal performance and long-term maintainability.
  • Strong proficiency in writing SQL and understanding query intricacies.
  • Experience with code versioning management systems like Git.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to analyze complex software issues.
  • Effective communication with non-technical users to understand requirements and propose solutions.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with MS Office products and general knowledge of basic office equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to work collaboratively in a respectful manner.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills to handle high volumes of detailed work, multitasking, and project deadlines.
  • Maintain professional demeanor with discretion, integrity, and accountability.
  • Punctual and reliable attendance.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old by the start of employment.
  • 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience with AWS cloud services (or Azure/GCP equivalents) and Python scripting preferred.
  • Familiarity with Apache Spark and passion for baseball statistics and analytics.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours according to the baseball calendar.
  • Able to travel as needed.
  • Minimum physical requirements: able to access ballpark areas for prolonged periods during games and events; able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Successful completion of all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including background checks.

Compensation:

This full-time position comes with a salary range of $100,000 - $120,000 per year. Our generous compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), basic life insurance, pet insurance, paid time off, holiday program, employee parking, and more. All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements and plan documents which may be modified or amended at any time.
