Policy Service Specialist

As a Policy Service Specialist at Homesteaders Life Company, you will play a critical role in communicating with policy owners, agents, and funeral home personnel on various issues, from routine to complex. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and processing policy change requests, including plan/benefit reissues, early pay-ups, nonforfeiture processing, and reinstatements.
  • Receiving and processing new business applications, preneed contracts, and related forms from the New Business team.
  • Reviewing and processing claims using the automated claim system, determining requirements and amount payable, and reconciling accounting to ensure proper disbursement to the payee.
  • Conducting audits of premium payments and miscellaneous accounting that is questioned.
  • Maintaining current price lists for all active funeral homes in Texas to facilitate preneed to at-need claim reconciliation and new business issuance.

Requirements:

  • Two or more years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on policy administration, new business/underwriting, or claims.
  • A comprehensive understanding of policy provisions and values, as well as preneed funeral contracts.
  • Able to apply a comprehensive understanding of Texas funeral contract compliance as regulated by the Texas Department of Banking.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at any given time.
