Job Summary:


We are seeking a skilled Bus Operations Trainer to join our Transportation Department at Eagle County Schools. As a Bus Operations Trainer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our student transportation services.



Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver classroom instruction, road training, and testing for new bus drivers.
  • Update training programs for regular and substitute drivers to ensure routes are operated safely, economically, and on time.
  • Assist in the supervision of bus driver trainers and bus aides.
  • Perform all bus driver responsibilities, including performing driver assessments and retraining.
  • Conduct parent-student safety training and instruct safe rider-ship training, orientation, and Public Safety programs for students and the public.
  • Maintain training records in accordance with CDE directives, regulations, and District Policy.
  • Participate in driver, parent, and student bus suspension conferences.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of transportation department policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.


Qualifications:

  • Meet and maintain all bus driver qualifications.
  • 4 years of experience as a bus driver or equivalent, including 1 year in ECSD.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations, commercial driver's license rules and regulations, Colorado motor vehicle codes, CDE operational rules, ECSD route conditions, fleet equipment, weather, and road conditions.
  • Demonstrate leadership, interest, ability, and desire to train bus drivers.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills (both written and oral).
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with adults in a learning environment.
