Job Summary

The Kansas Department for Children and Families is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Human Services Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for determining eligibility for Child Care, Cash, and Food Assistance programs.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Determining eligibility for Child Care, Cash, and Food Assistance programs through phone, face-to-face, computer, fax, and mail interactions.
  • Working within the state's KEES computer system to complete benefit eligibility determinations.
  • Providing excellent customer service to clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with other team members to achieve program goals and objectives.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Two years of experience interviewing, investigating, compiling information, documenting decisions, interpreting guidelines, and/or providing technical assistance relevant to human services programs.
  • Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
  • A valid driver's license, if the position requires travel.

Security Clearance and Tax Clearance

As a condition of employment, a background check will be required, including fingerprinting and an FBI check. Security clearance must be obtained prior to employment and maintained throughout your tenure with the Department for Children and Families. Additionally, you will need to apply for a Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate within 10 days of being offered a position.
