Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter Intervention Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Intervention Teacher to join our team at Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter. As a key member of our education department, you will work closely with foster youth at Horizon Academy to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Create a supportive learning environment that operationalizes our mission.
- Provide individualized high-quality supplemental instruction in math and/or literacy.
- Develop and implement tailored teaching activities that cater to each child's current educational level, individual strengths, and emotional needs.
- Maintain accurate student records and ensure a safe and orderly classroom environment.
- Build relationships that result in active student engagement in the learning process.
- Attend required staff and district meetings, as well as participate in mandatory training and staff events.
- Valid Arkansas State Certification as a Teacher with certifications in English and Math.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- ESL certification.
- Experience in Special Education preferred.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and establish positive working relationships.
- Works in a school environment.
- Physical stamina and agility required to care for children.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must pass all criminal history and child maltreatment background checks.
- Must submit to pre-employment drug screen as well as random drug screens when directed.
