Customer Service Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming calls, schedule procedures and appointments, and inform patients about necessary preparations.
- Accurately obtain and input patient information into the relevant systems.
- Screen and forward calls, as well as take messages.
- Verify insurance carriers to ensure participation in plans.
- Update and enter new insurance information as required.
- Correct and update patient details to maintain data integrity.
- Utilize standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, and fax machines.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Keep management informed of any unusual situations that arise during patient scheduling.
- Prepare copies of all necessary paperwork for personal and departmental use.
Communication with Physicians:
- Coordinate with physicians regarding their scheduling preferences.
- Set priorities and demonstrate sound judgment while adapting to daily schedule changes and physician requests.
- Work independently and efficiently under pressure, managing multiple interruptions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology.
- Experience in a private medical office setting is preferred.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screening is mandatory.
Minimum Competencies:
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Demonstrated accuracy and efficiency in tasks.
- Capability to read and comprehend patient medical charts, medical terminology, prescription medications, and physician messages.
- Strong computer skills, with familiarity in interpreting EMR systems being advantageous.
- Previous experience in scheduling is preferred.
