Job Summary:

The Milwaukee County Transit System seeks a skilled Electronics Specialist to perform maintenance and repairs on critical systems and equipment.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, isolating, and repairing analog, digital, and wireless systems, as well as installing and removing faulty assemblies to restore equipment to operating condition.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Repair equipment by adjusting, aligning, repairing, or replacing defective equipment and test repaired equipment to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
  • Perform field service maintenance and troubleshooting on digital communication equipment, electronic signs, public address systems, and fare collection systems.
  • Perform bench repairs to the lowest component level of electronic communication system equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, isolate, and repair physical issues with vehicles' wireless communications and GPS systems.
  • Deploy factory software/firmware updates manually when new equipment is installed and if periodic automated updates fail.
  • Perform road tests on all transit systems vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot and repair speaker systems associated with intercom systems and other electronic PA equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair on-site automated vehicle mileage and fuel accounting system.

Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid Class D Wisconsin Driver's License (non-probationary) for at least one (1) year prior to the date of application.
  • Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with P endorsement with no airbrake restrictions.
  • Associate degree in Electronics or three (3) years of experience as a communications service technician or a closely related position.
  • Documented training from an accredited institution in the repair of wireless or IP-based communication systems is strongly preferred.
