About the Role:

The University of Saint Joseph seeks a highly experienced and skilled Senior Special Education Program Director to join its team. In this role, you will oversee the administration of special education programs, ensuring compliance with state regulations and standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and schedules for program operation.
  • Collaborate with staff to establish and achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the supervision, assessment, and development of Gengras Center programs.
  • Design and conduct workshops and in-services for staff professional development.
  • Facilitate meetings, including PPT, IEP, Child Study Team, and Referral Intake meetings.
  • Evaluate and ensure delivery of required services to students according to IEPs, LEA Contracts, IDEA, and State Guidelines.
  • Attend relevant trainings and meetings to enhance programming.
  • Coordinate safety and emergency procedures.
  • Assign students to specific teachers and related services staff.
  • Assist with hiring, orienting, and placing new staff.
  • Monitor budget and provide financial support.
  • Support daily transportation needs and serve as liaison with LEA transportation departments.
  • Supervise meals periods and proper meal prep for students.
  • Coordinate health-related meetings to meet medical and psychiatric needs of students.
  • Responsible for the proper administration of restraints, seclusions, and exclusionary time-outs.
  • Assist with Crisis Intervention Team and impose suspensions as needed.
  • Research availability and assist in grant proposals and endeavors.
  • Act as Director or Associate Director when absent from the Center.

Requirements:

  • Connecticut Intermediate Administration and Supervision Certification (092) and Master's Degree are required.
  • At least five years' experience in teaching or service delivery, with knowledge of Special Education, is required.
  • Preferred to have a concentration on children with intellectual or multiple disabilities and/or students on the autism spectrum.
  • Connecticut Certification in Comprehensive Special Education, a related service area, or an area of specific disability is required.

About the Salary:

The estimated annual salary for this role is approximately $85,000 - $110,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
