Job Summary

As a Clinical Assistant at Interior Community Health Center, you will play a vital role in preparing patients for clinical encounters, collecting health history, and supporting healthcare staff. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as you will work closely with patients, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate patient flow.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for clinical encounters, including basic patient screening and collection of health history.
  • Assist in pre-visit preparation by pulling patient pre-visit information for daily team huddles.
  • Takes vital signs for providers, enters patient data into electronic health records, and reviews patient records according to protocol.
  • Obtains and enters screening questionnaires, ensures appropriate progress paperwork is completed, and tracks outstanding referrals and diagnostic orders.
  • Schedules and coordinates referral appointments, enters patient recalls, and sends result letters to patients according to protocol.
  • Identifies and reports abnormal vital signs to providers, sets up for clinical procedures, and cleans rooms between patients.
  • Terminally cleans and restocks exam rooms, performs CLIA waived lab tests, and assists CSSII/III as needed.
  • Completes and processes health center forms, uses specialized office and basic medical equipment, and integrates work with other staff to ensure timely and accurate patient flow.

Requirements

  • Current Alaska Nurse Aide Certification preferred.
  • Cultural competence in working with diverse populations required.
  • Current certification in BLS.
  • Ability to work under pressure, strong attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

Working Conditions

This position is based in the City of Fairbanks; however, position responsibilities may require travel within the Fairbanks North Star Borough and Denali Borough. Use of personal vehicle is required for travel; therefore, a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance is required.
