Central Indiana Orthopedics is seeking a skilled Pre-Certification Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for scheduling ordered procedures for patients and post-procedural appointments. You will ensure patients are scheduled and educated on procedure requirements, and complete prior authorizations of ancillary testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with internal and external providers to arrange testing for ordered procedures/tests.
  • Work with patients to identify available times to schedule procedures, answer questions related to required testing, and ensure correct insurance information is on file.
  • Complete prior authorizations of ancillary testing.
  • Maintain, update, and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information to ensure accurate and timely information is available.
  • Respond to and refer incoming phone calls as needed. Educate and instruct patients and families regarding medications, treatment instructions, and pre- and post-procedure protocols.
  • Manage and optimize MRI schedules.
  • Assist in screening patients for MRIs.
  • Prioritize and maintain strict confidentiality in all situations.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain applicable professional affiliations and certifications as required.
  • Attend and participate in required organizational meetings and committees as requested.
Requirements

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. An Associate's degree in medical assisting, medical office assisting, or a related field is preferred. At least one year of administrative support experience in a clinical environment is required. Experience with scheduling is preferred.

Working Conditions

The standard work environment is an office setting. Work requires sitting for long periods of time. Position requires viewing and typing on a computer for long periods. Occasionally bending, lifting, and reaching are required when dealing with files, paper, supplies, etc. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment regularly. Vision must be correctable to 20/20. Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts and to interact directly with patients. Regularly interacts with staff, physicians, insurance companies, and the public. Work may be stressful at times.
