Job Summary

The University of Connecticut Foundation Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Athletic Director of Development, Major Gifts to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of our institution and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of high-level prospects and donors to secure major gifts in support of UConn Athletics.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet or exceed annual goals.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Development to identify and cultivate new prospects, and to build relationships with existing donors.
  • Work closely with the Athletics Development team, University and Foundation colleagues, and other advancement professionals to achieve goals and elevate the success of the Athletics Department and Foundation.
  • Perform administrative duties related to advancement work, including documenting activity, writing proposals, and inputting engagement plans in the relationship management database.
  • Contribute to the overall productivity and efficiency of the Division/Department's development staff, by meeting or exceeding goals in a metrics-driven environment.
  • Develop and support clearly defined and strategic fundraising priorities within the campaign and articulate compelling cases to advance these priorities.
  • Model and articulate the Foundation's organizational core values at all times.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a major gift fundraiser and/or relevant transferrable skills.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office suite and donor management systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate University priorities to donors and prospects.
  • Ability to engender trust and confidence of donors and prospective donors and to maintain confidentiality of donor information.
  • Ability to work to the demands of the position, which may exceed a 40-hour work week.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively and to represent the UConn Foundation to prospects, donors, faculty, administrators, and others.
