About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Support Professional to join our team at Third Street Family Health Services. This individual will work closely with medical providers to establish rapport with patients through connection and provision of optimal patient care in a care team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Promote health equity by taking personal responsibility for providing care without judgment.
  • Respond to patient/client requests as appropriate.
  • Utilize the electronic health record effectively.
  • Rout patient and client communication through appropriate channels as per organizational policy.
  • Educate and leverage technology to ensure patient satisfaction, collaboration, and continuity of care.
  • Maintain discretion regarding patient confidentiality.
  • Provide adequate notice of time away from work.
  • Welcome, screen, and care for patients efficiently.
  • Assess patient needs and communicate those needs to the provider in preparation for the exam.
  • Obtain vital signs and specimens for testing as per organizational protocol and professional training.
  • Assist providers within office procedures which may include women's health exams, suturing, lesion removals with biopsy, use of sterile field, cryotherapy, chemical cautery, and others.
  • Perform point of care testing which may include EKG, urine drug screens, hemoglobin A1C, urine pregnancy test, and stool hemoccult.
  • Provide medically accurate patient education as directed by the provider.
  • Initiate referrals, schedule appointments, and document all activity in the electronic health record according to organizational policy.
  • Document correspondence and test results in the medical record with respect to patient confidentiality according to organizational policy.
  • Maintain adherence to medication management protocols.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly working environment.
  • Monitor medical equipment and instruments.
  • Restock supplies as indicated.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new team members.
  • Be a positive role model for all health center staff.

  • Vital signs measurement (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration rate)

  • Specimen collection and processing (urine, blood, other bodily fluids)
  • Basic wound care and dressing changes

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant, preferred.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Required (within the first 90 days)

Compensation

The estimated annual salary range for this position is between $32,000 and $40,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
