Strategic Operations Manager

About the Role:
This is a senior leadership position within Bodycote, responsible for delivering exceptional results in safety, quality, on-time delivery, and profit and loss performance. The successful candidate will lead the plant team to achieve business objectives, drive customer satisfaction, and maintain a culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve business goals, leveraging lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements.
- Lead the plant team to achieve superior customer service, sales growth, and local business development.
- Manage the retention, recruitment, training, and development of the plant leadership team, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and depth.
- Set standards and drive operational excellence throughout the plant, collaborating with various business functions to meet plant goals and objectives.
- Contribute to the development and deployment of systemic improvements to enhance safety, quality, capacity, and capability of Bodycote's technical business processes.
- Drive a dominant culture of customer service, developing long-term agreements with customers and growing sales opportunities within the current customer base.
- Capital equipment planning, including plant layouts, capital planning, and deployment, as well as control of overhead expenses.
- Workforce planning and forecasting, employee hiring and training, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Education: Completion of a BA or BS in business, technology, or a related field, or equivalent; MS/MA in business or a technical field preferred.
- Eight years of heat treat experience in management or equivalent experience in technical management.
- Minimum of 12 years of industrial and/or relatable leadership experience within a complex industrial or operations environment.
- At least 10 years of experience utilizing lean concepts with a proven track record of lean/Six Sigma project implementation.
- Minimum of 10 years of proactive management of labor performance and appropriate handling of employee issues.
- Excellent project management skills and experience.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong management skills, including decision-making, goal setting, delegation, coaching, and motivating.
- Must be willing to travel as needed within the South Central Region and possibly to other parts of the country.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and databases, are required.
