Job Summary

The Kitchen Supervisor is a key member of the culinary team at World Surf League, responsible for the execution and preparation of menu items, ensuring quality meals and service for guests during their stay. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with the Sous Chef and other team members to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Menu Execution and Preparation: Ensure timely and accurate preparation of menu items, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Culinary Team Leadership: Lead and motivate the culinary team to achieve exceptional results, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Food Safety and Quality: Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering to health code regulations and company standards.
  • Inventory Management: Manage kitchen supplies and inventory, ensuring accurate ordering and storage procedures.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and control food costs, maintaining a budget tracker to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Guest Service: Provide exceptional service to guests, responding to their needs and preferences in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the Sous Chef, Host, and other team members to ensure seamless service and menu execution.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a commercial kitchen operation, with a strong background in menu execution and preparation.
  • Education: Degree in Culinary Arts preferred, with a focus on menu planning and execution.
  • Certifications: Food Safety Manager Certification and/or CA Food Handler Permit required.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Working Conditions

This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day. The ability to lift 25 pounds or more is also required. The kitchen environment can be physically demanding, with exposure to heat, noise, and other hazards.
