Project Leader 2 Job Description

At M.C. Dean, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Project Director to lead our Critical Infrastructure Solutions team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and leading project teams to provide expert solutions to complex projects and industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead project teams in the preparation of project documentation, including project and manpower requirements, project layouts, and scheduling of resources.
  • Coordinate and plan project kick-off meetings for project teams involved.
  • Develop a Work Breakdown Structure for assigned projects with properly named work packages and resources assigned to tasks.
  • Execute site surveys, cost studies, and projected costs, budget forecasting, and financial and cost requirements of the contractor-perform work.
  • Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures, quality improvements, and execution of best practices.
  • Measure project scope and performance against the project plan to ensure the project is within cost variances, budget expectations, and schedule timeframes.
  • Partner directly with customers to create and manage project schedules.
  • Timely completion and accuracy of project punch-list items, as-built drawing submittals, and employee accessibility to training materials.
  • Maintain a positive, respectful, and productive partnership with leadership and support-team members to achieve project milestones.
  • Lead the acquisition of permits and licenses required and ensure that all inspections are completed within the discussed timeframe.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10-12 years of experience in the specialty contracting or general construction industry with a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or an Engineering discipline.
  • 7-9 years of construction management experience with a Master's Degree with a preference in Construction Management or Engineering.
  • Required knowledge within project management functions, including self-perform installation, sub-contractor coordination efforts, maintenance of schedule, and prioritization of deliverables tied to each specialty-trade simultaneously.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience and established knowledge in complex markets on projects specific to Federal, Local, Commercial, Government, and Transportation industries.
  • Extensive experience leading diverse teams and projects with specialty budgets valued between $5M - $150M+ in specialty (Electrical or Power/Specialty Systems) contract-value.
  • Ability to properly utilize software, including Bluebeam, Accubid, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance if required for the project.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Exceptional MS Excel skills.
  • Experience with scheduling (MS Project) a plus.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in MCD core disciplines.

Abilities:

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.

  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
