Job Summary:

The City of Gardiner seeks a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager to oversee the daily operations of its regional WWTP. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in wastewater management, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct the administration of all aspects of the WWTP, including industrial pretreatment, sludge disposal, and regulatory reporting.
  • Oversight includes the efficient operation of the entire system, including pump stations and the wastewater collection system.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to upgrade infrastructure and improve system performance.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, microbiology, wastewater technology, or environmental science.
  • Five years of progressive supervisorial or managerial experience in wastewater management.
  • Maine Grade IV or higher Wastewater Operator Certification (or comparable out-of-state certification).
  • Ability to manage complex projects, interact positively with the public, and respond to emergencies on nights and weekends.
