Job Description

As a Senior Engineering Program Manager at Tesla, you will lead the full design and engineering of Tesla facilities from concept to production launch. Your responsibilities will include developing engineering project plans, securing leadership alignment, and defining and effectively communicating factory design scope and prioritization for the factory engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full design and engineering of Tesla facilities from concept to production launch
  • Develop engineering project plans and secure leadership alignment
  • Define and effectively communicate factory design scope and prioritization for the factory engineering team
  • Drive the formation of internal and external engineering teams and manage 3rd party consultant contracts and budget
  • Scope and implement innovative engineering and design strategies to support aggressive program objectives
  • Own the execution of high-quality engineering deliverables (i.e. IFC) needed for procurement, costing, permitting, and construction activities
  • Own the factory development program schedule, funding requests with the broader team, and cross-functional design reviews (2D & 3D)
  • Lead factory engineering technical deep dives, process safety studies, and options analysis
  • Serve as the main factory engineering point of contact for the construction team during the construction phase
  • Own engineering project status reporting of progress, actions, and risks

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams within Architectural/Engineering firms or design-build firms
  • Experience leading engineering for central plant systems (i.e. chiller plants, boiler plants, compressor plants) is a major plus
  • Full understanding of all engineering disciplines and ability to demonstrate skills to manage engineering resources
  • Proven record in delivery of IFB, IFP, and IFC packages
  • Experience designing manufacturing facilities, healthcare, laboratory, mission critical, and site infrastructure development project types
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand complex topics/problems and distill the message clearly
  • Pre-Construction Project Management experience is a plus
