About the Role

As an Airport Operations Specialist at Horizon Air, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of flights at our airports. Your duties will include loading and offloading luggage and cargo, distributing paperwork to flight crews, and marshaling and pushing back aircraft.

Key Responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading luggage and cargo, transporting it to various airport locations.
  • Distributing all necessary paperwork to flight crews, including fuel slips, load plans, and cargo manifests.
  • Marshaling and pushing back aircraft safely and efficiently.
  • Preparing weight and balance forms, ensuring accurate commodity codes and weights are inputted into the data entry system.
  • Servicing aircraft as needed, including lavatory, potable water, aircraft grooming, deicing, and security searches.
  • Operating and driving multiple types of equipment, such as belt-loaders, tugs, air-start units, bag carts, lavatory carts, and deice trucks.
  • Towing aircraft as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management.

A Day in the Life

You will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple tasks simultaneously. Your strong communication skills and ability to multitask will be essential in this role. You will also have the opportunity to participate in paid training programs, which may require overnight travel.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach, and grasp.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to participate in paid training that may require overnight travel.
  • Ability to obtain USPS Mail Handling Certification and airport security clearance.
  • Ability to communicate in English and meet minimum age and education requirements.
