Program Leader for Youth Development and Extension Services

This role involves providing leadership and coordination of 4-H Youth Development programs in the Western Region, spanning 31 counties. As an Extension Program Leader, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting on regional programs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, evaluate, and report on region-wide programs in 4-H Youth Development.
- Provide programmatic support for identified priority programs aligned with county, state, and national priorities.
- Assist county and area staff through training, coaching, and support in evaluating and reporting outcome-based programs.
- Maintain close working relationships with UT and TSU State 4-H Youth Development Leaders and collaborate with all county staff, regional staff, and state Extension specialists.
- Manage a professional schedule to coordinate multi-county, regional, and statewide programs.
- Lead programs that cater to diverse clientele while promoting equal opportunities regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, religion, or veteran status.
- Support county and area staff in utilizing effective Extension marketing resources.
- Help new employees develop Professional Development Plans and work closely with them during their probationary periods.
- Collaborate with County Directors to onboard new 4-H Youth Development agents.
- Participate in evaluating applicants for county and area positions and chairing county-based search committees as needed.
- Recommend, plan, conduct, and evaluate in-service trainings for area and county Extension professionals.
- A Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences, or a related field is required.
- A Master of Science degree in Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences, Extension Education, or a closely related field of study is preferred.
- Experience in Extension is mandatory, with county-level experience being advantageous.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, work independently, and collaborate effectively.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills, including coaching, mentoring, and teaching.
- Ability to meet travel requirements for the position.
- Working knowledge of current software programs, including Microsoft Office.
The salary for this position is commensurate with training and experience. Benefits include group hospitalization and life insurance, State Employees Retirement; Workers' Compensation; sick and annual leave; various University of Tennessee and state benefits programs, including liberal time off for holidays and longevity pay after three years of service; reimbursement for official travel. An estimated annual salary of $$120,000 - $150,000 based on industry standards and regional factors.
