Established at Stanford University in 2022, Nexus is a groundbreaking initiative focused on enabling extensive verifiable computing, driven by zero-knowledge proofs.

Nexus represents an open scientific endeavor, aiming to consolidate decades of advancements in cryptography, mathematics, and computer science into the first comprehensive system for verifiable computation: The Nexus zkVM.

Our team comprises some of the foremost experts in cryptography, mathematics, and engineering, collaborating with a unified vision: to connect the world's computers and validate all of humanity's computations.

Position Overview

Nexus is on the lookout for a Lead Protocol Architect to become a vital member of our core engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and implementation of robust and secure protocols that serve as the backbone of our innovative decentralized platform. Your proficiency in distributed systems and cryptography will be crucial in establishing a scalable and dependable infrastructure for the future of verifiable computing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and document efficient and secure protocols for distributed systems.
  • Implement and rigorously test protocols utilizing suitable programming languages and frameworks.
  • Evaluate performance bottlenecks and enhance protocols for scalability and reliability.
  • Seamlessly integrate developed protocols with existing infrastructure components.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in blockchain technology, consensus mechanisms, and cryptographic primitives.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive experience with a focus on distributed systems and protocol architecture.
  • Master's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline; PhD preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of cryptographic principles and their application in secure communication protocols.
  • Extensive knowledge of common algorithms, data structures, and their computational/memory complexities.
  • Experience in implementing data structures and algorithms from the ground up.
