We are seeking an experienced Grant Award Specialist to manage grant awards from cradle to grave in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field, and two years of professional grants experience, including writing grant applications, determining grant/subgrant program eligibility, researching, writing, and implementing grant program plans, managing fiscal aspects of grants/subgrants, providing technical assistance to grant/subgrant recipients, and/or monitoring and ensuring grant/subgrant recipient compliance.

Key responsibilities of the Grant Award Specialist will include post-award management for all grants, providing assistance to the University and principal investigators in evaluating and improving the effectiveness of grant programs, facilitating and monitoring the timely and accurate submission of financial reports, and resolving unidentified payments/revenue from sponsors. The successful candidate will also be responsible for creating and providing training workshops for principal investigators, project directors, grant managers, administrative assistants, and other personnel to provide guidance on compliance with grant requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Post-award management for all grants, including federal, state, and local government sponsored programs and grants from private/nonprofit agencies.
  • Provide assistance to the University and principal investigators in evaluating and improving the effectiveness of grant programs.
  • Facilitate and monitor the timely and accurate submission of financial reports.
  • Resolve unidentified payments/revenue from sponsors.
  • Create and provide training workshops for principal investigators, project directors, grant managers, administrative assistants, and other personnel.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Two years of professional grants experience, including writing grant applications, determining grant/subgrant program eligibility, researching, writing, and implementing grant program plans, managing fiscal aspects of grants/subgrants, providing technical assistance to grant/subgrant recipients, and/or monitoring and ensuring grant/subgrant recipient compliance.
  • Experience in finance, accounting, budgets, grants, and/or contracts administration.
  • Knowledge of 2 CFR 200 and generally accepted accounting principles.

Salary and Benefits:

The budgeted salary for this position is $64,414.80. The university offers excellent benefits, including a generous vacation and sick benefits, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, a choice between three health insurance plans, and an excellent pension retirement plan through the Public Employees' Retirement System of Nevada.
