Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Communication Specialist to join our team at Washington County Mental Health Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and providing communication services to individuals with significant communication needs, meeting their communication, social, behavioral, and employment goals.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent teaching, organization, and time management skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as a team member and independently. Experience with augmentative and alternative communication methods, supported typing, and assistive technology is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing oversight, consultation, training, and technical assistance to a communication caseload
  • Liaising with Speech and Language Pathologists and other professionals to ensure effective communication
  • Supporting individuals with significant communication needs to increase effective communication
  • Facilitating training and advocacy activities, and providing individual and group instruction
  • Providing information and resources to treatment teams
  • Attending workshops, trainings, and conferences to develop knowledge and skills in areas such as AAC, AT, FCT, and NMT
