Job Summary:

The County of El Dorado is seeking a skilled Veterinarian to join our team in providing medical and surgical services to animals at our county animal shelters. As a Veterinarian, you will be responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating animals, as well as overseeing the work of staff who assist with animal health or euthanasia procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

* Advise Agency management staff on animal health care practices to maintain compliance with established standards of care
* Examine, diagnose, and perform routine and emergency medical treatment of all impounded animals
* Vaccinate animals against common diseases and perform spay/neutering surgery on animals prior to adoption
* Develop and implement protocols for handling ill and injured animals in the shelter
* Provide ongoing training for staff to identify animals requiring isolation or veterinary care

Requirements:

* Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree
* One (1) year of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of animals in a clinical setting, private practice or shelter environment, including the performance of surgery
* Valid license issued by the California Board of Examiners in Veterinary Medicine to practice as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
* Valid California Driver License, Class C or higher
