Job Summary

The Grid and Market Solutions (GMS) Application Developer is responsible for designing, coding, testing, documenting, and maintaining applications to meet ERCOT business requirements for a suite of Electric Power Grid Applications.

The successful candidate will work closely with customers, business area subject matter experts, team members, and other internal technical teams to design, develop, and maintain complex ERCOT applications in support of market needs and internal corporate requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) processes and be able to perform testing and validation of Applications and User Interface changes to deliver quality software to customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, code, test, document, and maintain applications to meet ERCOT business requirements
  • Work closely with customers, business area subject matter experts, team members, and other internal technical teams to design, develop, and maintain complex ERCOT applications
  • Perform testing and validation of Applications and User Interface changes to deliver quality software to customers
  • Adhere to software development life cycle (SDLC) processes
  • Participate in requirements and design review discussions with business users
  • Develop and manage source code using Atlassian Bitbucket source code control tool
  • Adhere to software development life cycle (SDLC) standards for all software changes within the portfolio
  • Understand and follow GMS applications software release process and best practices to deliver software changes to customers seamlessly
  • Participate in interdepartmental meetings and present software design and implementation details
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years related work experience in excess of degree requirements
  • Full stack development experience
  • UX development experience
  • Understanding of agile software development practices
  • Experience working with GIT
  • Experience with programming languages such as Java, Oracle PL/SQL, Python
  • Experience with developing integration layers using messaging services such as Tibco JMS, AMQ
  • Experience with CIM/XML model-based tools
  • Power industry experience in grid and market arena preferably with software vendors or ISO/utilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Senior Level Engineer with minimum 5 years related work experience in excess of degree requirements
  • Lead Level Engineer with minimum 8 years related work experience in excess of degree requirements
Work Location

The majority of job duties can be performed remotely from your Texas residence.

May be required to be on-site at the Taylor facilities at least once a month, or more based on the business needs and as determined by the Manager.

May select a hybrid work schedule of set days to work remote and on-site or choose to work on-site 100% of the time.

Work arrangements are subject to business needs and are subject to change accordingly.
