Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Neurophysiology Specialist to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As an EEG Technologist II, you will be responsible for performing standard and complex EEG recordings, including proficiency in other neurodiagnostic modalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for various physiologic studies and collect pertinent information to ensure proper interpretation by physicians.
  • Perform standard and complex EEG recordings, including wake and asleep, bedside, isolation, and electrocerebral inactivity evaluations.
  • Record EEGs from pediatric and neonatal patients, including those in the Newborn Special Care Unit, as requested by referring physicians.
  • Review patients' neurological status and clinical history from charts, patients, or other knowledgeable persons, and explain recording procedures in detail prior to the procedure.
  • Adapt methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observations, and test findings for interpretation at the time of review by physicians.
  • Meet emergency EEG On Call requirements as determined by the Patient Services Manager, Neurophysiology.
  • Follow established safety precautions and procedures in the performance of all duties to ensure a safe environment.
  • Consistently demonstrate a complete knowledge of body mechanics.
  • Demonstrate a concern for cleanliness of self and work area on a daily basis and practice proper infection control techniques per YNHH policy.
  • Keep equipment in clean operating condition daily and perform maintenance and minor repairs of laboratory equipment and report the need for major repairs as soon as possible.
  • Provide appropriate patient care during seizures, including activating emergency buttons for help, restraining arms and legs to prevent injury, and staying with patients until seizures are over.
  • Retrieve and enter data into the Natus Synergy and Natus neuroworks system.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in using EPIC scheduling system.
  • Assist in the training and instruction of Neurophysiology Technologist I, when necessary, as determined by the Patient Services Manager, Neurophysiology.
  • Assist in research studies or special projects when requested by the Patient Services Manager, Neurophysiology.
  • Order and stock supplies for neurophysiology studies.
  • Enter charges for neurophysiology studies.
Qualifications

We require a minimum of three years of experience performing standard and complex neurodiagnostic procedures. Long-term monitoring (LTM) in an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) is a plus. A R.EEG.T. or equivalent certification is required. Possession of the skills and knowledge required by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) for national board certification is also required.
