Student Support Services Program Director

At Southeastern Oklahoma State University (SEOK), we are seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to fill the role of Assistant Director Student Support Services and SSS: Teach. As a member of our team, you will play a crucial part in supporting the academic success and personal growth of our students, particularly those from low-socioeconomic backgrounds, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities.
About the RoleWe are looking for a dynamic individual who can lead and manage a case load of student advisors, providing continuous and ongoing advising to TRIO Student Support Services participants. Your primary responsibility will be to plan, implement, and present various academic support workshops and field experiences, focusing on financial literacy, study skills, goal setting, graduation planning, cultural competency, and career exploration.
In addition to your teaching experience, you should have a strong understanding of Federal TRIO programs and grant policies, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or a closely related field is required, and prior leadership experience at an institutional, state, or regional level is preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the orientation of all incoming program participants;
- Maintain accurate program records and documentation of services provided;
- Plan, implement, and present various academic support workshops and field experiences;
- Lead, manage, and advise a case load of student advisors;
- Coordinate recruitment activities for prospective TRIO SSS participants;
- Process potential participant applications, including screening, interviewing, and notifying selected students;
- Maintain a working knowledge of Federal TRIO programs and grant policies;
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearly leadership reports;
- Assist with hiring, training, and supervising new hires and student workers;
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or a closely related field;
- Prior leadership experience at an institutional, state, or regional level;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- A strong understanding of Federal TRIO programs and grant policies;
- Ability to relate to disconnected students and work effectively with diverse populations;
The salary for this position is estimated to be around $65,000-$80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
