Job Summary

The University of California, Davis Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Records Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Department of Public Health Sciences, you will play a critical role in providing administrative and programmatic support to our Medical Surveillance Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medical Records Analysis and Processing: 70% of your time will be dedicated to analyzing and processing medical records, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Operational and Client Service Support: 25% of your time will be spent providing operational and client service support, including collaborating with cross-functional teams and agencies.
  • Other Duties & Core Performance Standard: 5% of your time will be allocated to other duties and core performance standards.
Requirements
  • Associates degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical setting.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records.
  • Experience recording laboratory results and other medical data input.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated skills working with and maintaining sensitive and confidential records and an understanding of disclosure requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to perform the duties of the job.
  • Excellent time management, discernment, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of OSHA and NIOSH regulations specific to occupational health.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, specifically understanding laboratory tests and other medical vital statistics and results.
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail, recognize discrepancies, and make appropriate and accurate changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and excellent analysis and problem-solving skills, in prioritizing and organizing extremely heavy workloads in an active and complex work environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to independently organize medical screenings, collect and appropriately record medical results with client records, extract data from database to prepare accounts receivable, review and correct discrepancies.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to independently determine priorities and perform diverse tasks efficiently in order to meet deadlines.
  • Initiative and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing situations in a positive manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to withstand stress and retain interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Clear written and verbal communication to communicate in a professional manner both in person and on the telephone.
  • Ability to access, comprehend, and successfully utilize contents and structure of databases used and enter data accurately.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within California to screening sites, or run errands in support of screenings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid California Driver's License.
Work Environment
  • This position is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history and identity check.
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime.
  • Must be able to travel with mobile clinic to screening sites and work in confined area for a long period of time as needed on occasion.
  • Must complete training to obtain Audiometry and Spirometry certifications.
