Exhibit Technician

We are seeking an experienced Exhibit Technician to join our team at the Huntsville Botanical Garden. This role is responsible for fabricating, installing, and maintaining exhibits and signage that showcase the beauty of plants and connect people with nature.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in exhibit construction, carpentry, and fabrication. They will be comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and able to lift up to 50 pounds. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with heavy machinery such as forklifts and skid-steers is also required.

• Fabricate and install exhibits and signage using various materials and techniques.
• Maintain and repair existing exhibits and signage to ensure they remain safe and visually appealing.
• Collaborate with the Exhibit Production Coordinator and Site Maintenance team to coordinate exhibit installations and repairs.
• Assist with the installation, maintenance, and de-installation of traveling and home-grown exhibits.
• Test, assemble, and install lighting technologies and equipment.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in exhibit construction, carpentry, or fabrication.
• A valid driver's license and insurability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with heavy machinery.
• A commitment to providing excellent customer service and working safely in a fast-paced environment.

Extensive experience working with exhibits in museums, botanical gardens, or theatre settings is preferred. Background working with RGB or DMX lighting technology is also a plus.

The Huntsville Botanical Garden offers a competitive salary range of $14.00 - $16.50 per hour, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
