Job Title: Geotechnical Staff Engineer

Job Summary:
Terracon is seeking a Geotechnical Staff Engineer to provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients. This role involves performing and/or leading field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Prepare proposals and reports for small and large projects of varying complexity under the supervision of an Authorized Project Reviewer, while adhering to Terracon's quality standards.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of projects with moderate size and complexity under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects and work closely with senior-level Professional Engineer to gain project management and engineering experience.
  • Interact directly with client and project team on developing scope of services and communicating project progress.
  • Evaluate laboratory and field data and make design, engineering, and construction recommendations under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 0-3 years' experience.
  • Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) required.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Location:
The location for this position can be based out of any of the following Terracon offices: Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, Bettendorf, and Des Moines.
