Long Term Shift:Standard Shift (32 hours and 4 Days/Week)
Job Duties:- Monitor and intervene in the course of chronic illnesses, utilizing ODRC policies and protocols for guidance.
- Inoculate or vaccinate against communicable diseases and prescribe medications or administer treatment of acute and chronically ill patients.
- Perform minor surgery as training and competency allow.
- Conduct routine physical exams of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions and diagnose new conditions.
- Evaluate patients for the necessity of specialty referral consultations inside or outside the institution and review said consult reports for recommendations, approving or disapproving accordingly.
- Order and review the results of laboratory, x-ray, and other diagnostic testing as appropriate.
- Facilitate the completion of medical reclassification and requests for non-formulary medications as necessary.
- Perform routine and emergency medical care of patients as scheduled.
- Examine, diagnose, and treat patients within the scope of practice, as identified by the State of Ohio Nursing Board, as applicable.
- Conduct rounds on infirmary patients as deemed appropriate by the CMO.
- Document medical information gathered during patient interviews according to ODRC Office of Correctional Healthcare guidelines, policies, protocols, and related American Correctional Association standards currently in practice.
