YAI is a leading organization providing community habilitation services in NYC, seeking a highly motivated Life Skills Coach to join our team.

The successful candidate will provide one-on-one support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to achieve greater independence through the teaching of various life skills. Our Community Habilitation program promotes community integration, offering recreational opportunities that foster social connections and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Develop effective communication skills and utilize time management strategies to prioritize tasks and meet individual needs.
  • Provide individualized support in community and home settings, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, adhering to agency guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate progress and adjust support plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with individuals, families, and community partners, fostering a culture of inclusion and respect.
  • Prioritize health, wellness, and safety by managing crisis situations and providing supervision as needed.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop person-centered plans, ensuring seamless transitions and comprehensive support.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; some college education or relevant experience an asset.
  • Work or life experience within the intellectual/developmental disabilities field desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in software applications relevant to the position.
  • A valid driver's license may be required for certain positions.

Compensation and Benefits:
