Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Assistive Technology Specialist to join our team at Norwalk Public Schools. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with special education teachers and students to provide support and training on assistive technology devices and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized support and training on assistive technology devices and systems to special education teachers and students.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that incorporate assistive technology.
  • Assist general education classroom teachers in selecting and implementing assistive technology tools to support students with diverse needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in assistive technology and provide professional development opportunities for teachers and staff.
  • Collaborate with other specialists and administrators to ensure that assistive technology is integrated into the school's curriculum and instructional practices.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Experience working with assistive technology devices and systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and other staff members.
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Experience working with students with diverse needs.
