Medical Department Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Team Leader to join our team at The Salvation Army Great Lakes Division. As a Medical Team Leader, you will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of our medical department, working closely with the Site Administrator and medical staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality medical services.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all inquiries related to information, referral, and admission, ensuring timely and effective communication with clients and stakeholders.
- Conduct pre-admission screenings of potential clients for detoxification services, assessing their suitability for our programs.
- Schedule detoxification admissions and discharges, completing all necessary medical documents and ensuring seamless transitions.
- Review detoxification protocol applications, verifying that all necessary requirements are met.
- Verify that medical charts are properly closed, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Provide coverage for call-offs and no-shows, ensuring continuity of care and services.
- Conduct ADIA admissions and discharges for detoxification clients, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and protocols.
- Create monthly medical staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and resource allocation.
- Schedule monthly team meetings with the Physician's Assistant and/or Medical Director, fostering collaboration and open communication.
- Conduct staff training for new medical employees, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality care and services.
- Prepare and manage medical supplies, working closely with medical staff to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Take appropriate action as directed by the Medical Director to ensure client medical stability, and in emergency situations, facilitate assistance according to Harbor Light protocol.
- Assist the Medical Director, Physician's Assistant, and/or designate in the provision of medical services, ensuring seamless delivery of care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, charts, logs, and other pertinent data for the medical unit.
- 2 years of medical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse.
- Experience working with substance abuse or mental health populations is preferred.
- Must possess a working knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA standards, as well as Universal precautions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications and email, with experience using Electronic Medical Records systems strongly preferred.
- Complete Safe From Harm training and maintain current certification, as well as hold a valid Michigan Chauffeur License and approved by The Salvation Army MVR.

- Move objects up to 30 pounds for less than 2 hours.
- Visual acuity is required for 2-5 hours.
- Read and understand written word for 2-5 hours.
- Drive or travel is not required.
The work environment characteristics include:
- Average daily environmental conditions:
- No exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, chemicals, or hazardous equipment.
- Medical Environment: Exposure to body fluids, radiation, medical equipment, solvents, or chemicals for 2-5 hours.
- Noise: Exposure to constant or intermittent extreme sounds is not required.
- Temperature: Exposure to extreme heat or cold either indoors or outside is not required.
- RELIABILITY: Ability to be dependable, trustworthy, and committed to doing the best job possible and completing work in a timely and consistent manner.
- PROBLEM SOLVING: Ability to recognize courses of action to handle problems, gathering and organizing information, identifying cause and effect relationships, and applying contingency plans to solve those problems.
