About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Patient Care Assistant to join our team in the Cardiac Step-down Unit at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.

Responsibilities
  • Collects, documents, and reports vital signs, such as blood pressure and weight.
  • Completes screening questions and documents all items into the medical record.
  • Promotes general patient safety and performs minor specimen testing.
  • Holds and positions patients and assists with procedures.
  • Prepares all materials and supplies as needed.
  • Remains compliant with HIPAA and maintains professionalism and confidentiality of patient information.
  • Ensures environmental standards are met and all clinic and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
  • Identifies learning needs and attends continuing education as appropriate.
  • Participates in educational activities and acts as a preceptor for orientation and training of other PCA staff.
  • Responsible for the transport of non-controlled medications from Pharmacy to designated licensed healthcare practitioners.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current, Ohio STNA license or nursing student who has successfully completed Fundamentals of Nursing (or equivalent) from an accredited program.
  • At least one year of patient care experience in a hospital within the last three years.
  • Current CPR (BLS for healthcare providers) required upon hire.
