We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical coding, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Job Summary

The Clinical Coding Specialist - Inpatient will be responsible for reviewing hospital inpatient clinical documentation, assigning correct diagnosis and procedure codes, and analyzing data to facilitate appropriate Diagnosis Related Group (DRG), Severity of Illness, Risk of Mortality, and Hospital Acquired Conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze inpatient clinical documentation to assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes
  • Work closely with clinical quality areas to review requests related to organizational quality reporting data
  • Analyze data to facilitate appropriate DRG, SOI, ROM, POA, and HAC
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and regulations
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with department and hospital staff to foster a team environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in inpatient coding
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
