Emergency Department Nurse: Providing High-Quality Patient Care

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Nurse to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As an RN in this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients and their families.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position that requires a minimum of 9 months of RN experience, with at least one year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the ED. You will work closely with other members of the healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care and ensure seamless communication throughout the hospital stay.

Responsibilities:
  • Assessment: Perform accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education needs, and discharge planning needs. Identify deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests and reassess patients throughout their hospitalization.
  • Planning: Develop individualized nursing plans of care, sensitive to the developmental needs of patients. Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital and clinic departments and community agencies. Appropriately delegate patient care activities based on patients' conditions and scope of practice of other healthcare providers.
  • Implementation: Initiate appropriate measures based on protocol for the management of medical and/or surgical patients. Bases nursing care on protocols in place for each patient's management. Correctly carries out physicians' plans of care, accurately documents in the EMR, and utilizes available teaching plans when addressing patient teaching needs.
  • Evaluation: Evaluates assessment methods, plans of care, and patients' responses to treatment. Participates in unit quality assurance activities.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided)
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire
  • BASIC Life Support
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Computer keyboarding skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous healthcare experience
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
  • CEN preferred
  • TNCC preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias
  • A desire and ability to function within professional and personnel standards as defined
Salary Information:

The estimated annual salary for this position is $85,000-$105,000, depending on qualifications and location.
