About the Job
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing nursing care for surgical patients, ensuring a high standard of care and adherence to certifications and training related to patient care delivery across multiple specialties.
Responsibilities:
• Perform comprehensive assessments on all patients within the appropriate time frame, utilizing skills of observation, communication, and examination
• Plan patient care on an individual basis, identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions consistent with identified problems, and attainable outcomes
• Plan for patient teaching, discharge, and post-discharge needs as appropriate for the patient population
• Function independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to areas, evidenced by adherence to policy, procedure, and competency-based assessment, and no pattern or trend of problem
• Handle, transport, store, prepare, administer medications/solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures
• Document accurately and timely
• Reassess patient's condition, evaluate patient response, and modify plan of care accordingly and in a timely manner
• Accept charge responsibilities and assign staff with consideration of patient condition and care requirement, acuity, and complexity of patient's condition
• Facilitate staff development, maintain a healing and therapeutic environment for the patient and family, and maintain position-specific qualifications
Requirements:
• Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university
• Licensed in the State of Tennessee
• BLS within 90 days of hire
• Basic arrhythmia certification within 6 months of hire (for specific units)
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire (for specific units)
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification within 6 months of hire (for specific units)
• Ability to communicate in English verbally and legibly
• Prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day
• Ability to lift with assistance up to 250 lbs
