Academic Advisor

At Danville Area Community College, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our team. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a critical role in helping students achieve their academic and career goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic and career counseling to students, helping them determine their educational and career goals.
• Assist students in selecting appropriate classes and planning their academic path.
• Interpret placement, achievement, and entrance exams to help students make informed decisions.
• Register students for classes and educate them on academic regulations and degree requirements.
• Maintain student records and provide timely feedback on student progress.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement programs and activities that support student success.
• Advocate for students and provide mental health services and resources as needed.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Counseling or a related field.
• Experience in academic advising or counseling.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Counseling with a school counseling concentration.
• Two years of experience in counseling or academic advising.
• Broad knowledge of college counseling, articulation, IAI, career planning, and student services.
