Family Reunification Coach

About the Role:
The Family Reunification Coach is a vital member of our team at Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs, working closely with parents and caregivers to guide them towards reunification and family stability. This role requires a compassionate and skilled individual who can effectively utilize a parent-centered coaching model to empower families.
About the Job:
This position involves partnering with an assigned caseload of parents/caregivers through regular virtual or in-person meetings, as well as monthly check-ins and other interactions as needed. The Family Reunification Coach will work as an advocate, supporting parents/caregivers in the reunification process by fostering collaborative efforts with the assigned CUA team and other service providers. Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating parent engagement through email, text, and telephone to engage parents/caregivers in our services.
- Utilizing motivational interviewing as a counseling technique to enhance the desire for behavior change.
- Becoming familiar with the impact of executive functioning on parent capacity regarding goal setting and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Accessing and developing networks of resources to support parents in addressing reunification barriers.
- Preparing written reports and submitting them to the assigned CUA team to provide updates on parent/caregiver participation levels and experiences.
- Providing parents/caregivers and assigned CUA teams with written evidence of successful participation in our services.
- Collaborating with assigned CUA teams as needed to address parent/caregiver needs and concerns.
- Conducting visits to assigned Community Umbrella Agencies at least once per month to support parents and case conference with CUA case managers.
- Soliciting engagement and awareness about our services at Philadelphia Family Court and community events to increase enrollments among eligible parents.
- Maintaining accurate and timely records of parent communication and documentation in our database, Penelope.
- Maintaining client documentation in individual electronic folders.
- Actively participating in professional development opportunities to increase skills in partnering with parents/caregivers.
- Working collaboratively with members of our team and contractors as needed to support parent/caregiver needs.
- Completing referrals for services and resources.
- Reviewing and updating goal plans as needed to reflect ongoing parent/caregiver needs and progress.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
- A minimum of three years of case management or similar experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Highly organized with the ability to effectively manage time and respond to deadlines.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Experience in motivational interviewing is preferred.
- Knowledge of the child welfare system is also preferred.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills including typing, writing, and presentation.
- Ability to travel to alternative worksite locations (CUA, Family Court, community location).
- Ability to work evenings and Saturdays.
Compensation:
$62,000 - $75,000 per year based on qualifications and experience.
