Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the PACU department at TSAOG Orthopaedics & Spine. As a key member of our care team, you will provide high-quality patient care in the pre and postoperative phases of the ambulatory surgery experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality care to patients in the pre and postoperative phases, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Introduce yourself to patients and families, gathering pertinent information and applying ID bracelets and allergy bands.
  • Review preoperative charts to ensure all necessary paperwork and lab studies are present, and verify patient information.
  • Monitor vital signs, assess cardiac and fluid volume, airway potency, and wounds/drains, implementing and signing off on physician pre and post-op orders.
  • Document all nursing interventions in the patient's chart, maintaining accurate records of narcotics dispensed.
  • Respond to emergency situations, complete pre-and post-operative teaching, and maintain open lines of communication with OR and anesthesia staff.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives, assist with updating printed materials, and make preoperative assessment and post-operative follow-up calls as required.
Requirements
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of one year Perioperative experience, critical care, and/or outpatient experience preferred.
  • Ability to verbalize understanding of the nursing process, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of physical and emotional disease processes, clinical nursing skills, and administration of medications.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required, with Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment

This role requires extensive mobility, with frequent walking and standing, as well as periodic pushing, pulling, and lifting of patients and/or equipment. You may be exposed to patients with communicable diseases and hazardous equipment or agents.
