Job Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Advanced Mammalian Display Scientist to join our team at Lilly Biotechnology Center in San Diego, CA.

About the Role

This is a fixed-duration position for two years with potential to extend to three years. As a Postdoctoral Scientist, you will focus on advancing mammalian display technologies for the engineering of novel membrane protein constructs.

Responsibilities
  • Design and execute experiments to develop and optimize mammalian display systems.
  • Conduct high-throughput screening and selection of protein variants.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate findings into broader research projects.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data and present findings at internal and external meetings.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Virology or a related field.
  • Strong background in mammalian cell culture and a deep understanding of molecular biology techniques including PCR, cloning, vector preparation and host cell manipulation.
  • Experience with display technologies (e.g., phage display, yeast display, or mammalian display).
  • Lentiviral vector (LVV) experience is required.
Additional Skills
  • Experience with flow cytometry and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS).
  • Familiarity with next-generation sequencing (NGS) library generation.
  • Knowledge of protein engineering and directed evolution techniques.
  • Experience of bioinformatics analysis with tools like Pipeline Pilot or Knime is advantageous.

The estimated annual salary for this role is $115,000 - $145,000 based on national averages for similar positions in San Diego, CA.
