About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Estimator and Construction Management Expert to join our team at Mastec Civil, LLC. As a key member of our estimating department, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely estimates for complex construction projects in heavy civil construction.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 13 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a strong background in cost estimation, construction management, and quantity takeoffs. You will work closely with our project teams to ensure that all estimates are thorough, accurate, and meet our high standards.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed estimates for construction projects, including bid items, basis of estimate, and skills required for identification of errors and discrepancies in plans and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of reading plans, specifications, request for proposal, request for information, addendums, technical special provisions, and other relevant documents.
  • Build green sheet estimates, breakdown activity structure, construction schedules, and risk matrix analysis.
  • Create job budgets for awarded contracts.
  • Understand bid strategies, cost savings initiatives, and management skills.
  • Perform accurate and timely quantity takeoffs.
  • Capable of individually estimating an entire job.
  • Study and review all estimating reports, including equipment total hours, labor total hours, key indicators, equipment balance analysis, and more.
  • Constantly review updated FDOT Standards and Specifications.
  • Full review of bid submittal packages and lead estimating discussions with company executives.
  • Obtain clarifications on plans and specifications from owners or engineers of record.
  • Coordinate and invite suppliers and subcontractors to quote different scopes of work.
  • Analyze suppliers and subcontractor pricing input when required.
  • Build and strengthen subcontractor and supplier relationships.
  • Have a complete understanding of unit cost analyzes.
  • Assist in pre-bid meetings and bid submittals.
  • Maintain updated information regarding commodity trade prices.
  • Continuously look for new construction technologies and techniques.
  • Maintain continued education in construction by attending engineering conventions, forums, and more.
  • Continue communication with field personnel to track and adjust as necessary unit costs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 13 years of experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Located in Florida.
  • B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management degree.
  • Possess high work values, integrity, and ethical standards.
  • Possess great focus to meet and exceed company requirements and expectations.
  • Possess good organization skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge in bridge and roadway construction.
  • Savvy in foundations, concrete structures, temporary structural systems, underground and utility work, earthwork, signalization, roadway lighting and signing, intelligent transportation system, safety standards, and more.
  • Knowledgeable in design-build and design-bid-build contracts with FDOT and Turnpike Enterprises.
  • Teaching and mentoring skills.
Salary and Benefits
