Job Title: Service Worker II

Job Summary:

The City of Davenport is seeking a highly skilled Service Worker II to join our Public Works team. As a Service Worker II, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the City's water and sewer utility systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of City utility systems.
  • Participate in work concerned with the installation, maintenance, and repair of domestic water distribution and/or sanitary sewage collection systems.
  • Assist in the installation and repair of water mains, hydrants, and other activities associated with water system maintenance.
  • Participate in the installation and repair of sanitary sewer lines and lift stations.
  • Participate with other Utilities staff in the installation and repair of water meters as needed.
  • Contact property owners in areas where equipment and crews will be working to make necessary arrangements for installation and maintenance activities.
  • Answer questions regarding information needed or complaints regarding maintenance activities.
  • Report actions and results to the Utilities Superintendent.
  • Respond to emergency calls, assign, and assist as needed to correct problems.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license from any state.
  • Ability to operate various types of equipment required in the installation and maintenance of utility systems.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to utility installation and maintenance programs.
  • Ability to understand and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability and agility to perform various job duties in all weather conditions.
Working Conditions:

The Service Worker II will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The position requires the ability to lift and/or interact with job-related appurtenances and equipment that may weigh in excess of 50 pounds.
