Job Summary

Horton Emergency Vehicles is seeking a skilled Assembly Technician to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for installing various vehicle interior and exterior parts according to specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install all non-electrical interior and exterior components and hardware.
  • Bolt, screw, clip, or otherwise fasten together parts to form subassemblies, such as doors, seats, instrument control panels, steering columns, and axle units.
  • Seal joints and seams using a caulking gun.
  • Fasten seats, door paneling, headliners, carpeting, molding, and other trim into position.
  • Assemble fabricated parts, components, or units at floor stations.
  • Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications.
Requirements
  • Ability to read and use linear and other measuring devices.
  • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
  • Fundamental use of various pneumatic and power tools, such as drills and screw guns.
  • General knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Ability to function with minimal supervision or no supervision.
  • Set work priorities to meet production goals as scheduled.
Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling, or bending positions.
  • Ability to work with arms above head.
  • Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding.
  • Ability to stand at a workstation for ten hours a day (minus specified breaks).
  • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
  • Ability to safely use specified hand, air, power tools, and machinery.
  • Ability to operate and understand the operation of all protective safety equipment in the area.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Ability to handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
  • Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions.
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, and squat.
  • Occasionally lift up to but not exceed 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work with arms above head.
  • Able to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
