Job Description

Overview

Tyson & Mendes is seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel to join our team of experienced insurance defense and trial advocacy experts. As a Senior Counsel, you will play a key role in developing and implementing effective defense strategies for our clients, while also mentoring and guiding less experienced attorneys.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement compelling case themes that outshine plaintiff ploys for sympathy or anger
  • Refuse to accept mediocrity and strive for excellence in all aspects of your work
  • Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs, and trials
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of experience
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients through routine communications
  • Cultivate relationships with existing and future clients to drive business growth
  • Provide leadership and direction to less experienced attorneys

Requirements

  • JD from an ABA-approved law school
  • Active bar license in the state of Washington
  • 8+ years of solid litigation experience, with a focus on insurance defense and trial preparation
  • Ability to manage full case handling responsibilities, including discovery and trial
  • Experience handling insurance defense matters preferred
  • Strong time management skills and proficiency in MS Suite
  • Ability to think and act independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
