Medical Records Coder - Primary Care Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Records Coder to join our team in Skokie, IL. As a Medical Records Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of patient data.

Responsibilities:

* Assign ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes with high accuracy using CAC/3M encoder
* Abstract required data elements during production coding
* Assign POA indicators for proper payment as part of pay for performance initiatives
* Adhere to CDI program guidelines to assign MS DRG accurately
* Code all inpatient work types meeting productivity standards
* Handle patient information with discretion and integrity

Requirements:

* Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification
* Minimum 1 year experience coding all inpatient types (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) required
* Ability to follow detailed instructions with high accuracy
* Full understanding of ICD-10-CM, DRG, and Rehab PPS payment groups and applicable rules and regulations
